Draft. This document has not been reviewed by a lawyer. It is published so that what the app does is stated plainly, and it must be reviewed before any store submission.
What this build actually is. Zynlo currently runs entirely on your own device. There is no account, no sign-in, no cloud sync and no server holding your study material. Nothing described below assumes a feature that is not in the app you are using.
1. Who we are, and what Zynlo is
Zynlo (the “App”, “we”, “us”) is a learning and long-term retention app. It helps you remember material you bring to it, using flashcards, typed recall and spaced repetition scheduling.
Zynlo does not write your study material. You create it yourself, or you generate it with an AI assistant of your own choosing, and then you import it.
By using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
2. Your study material is not checked by us
Zynlo does not verify the accuracy of anything you import.
Zynlo can write a prompt for you to use with a third-party AI assistant such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Anything that assistant produces is generated at your direction, by a service we do not control, and may be wrong.
Spaced repetition is designed to make things memorable. That works just as well on material that is wrong. Please check anything that matters — particularly professional, legal, medical or safety-critical study — against an authoritative source.
Imported material is shown as unverified inside the App, and Zynlo never silently rewrites the answers you imported.
3. No account is required, and none is offered
This build of Zynlo has no account system. There is no sign-in, no password, no cloud backup and no synchronisation between devices. Everything you do stays on the device you do it on. If account-based features are added later, these Terms and the Privacy Policy will be updated before they are switched on.
4. Your data
How your information is handled is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. In short: it stays on your device.
5. Payment
This build has nothing to buy. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase and no paid tier, and no payment details are collected. If paid features are introduced, they will be sold through the relevant app store under that store’s own terms, and these Terms will be updated first.
6. Removing your data
Because your material is stored locally, you remove it yourself. See Deleting your data for exactly how, and for what that does and does not affect.
7. Acceptable use
Do not use the App to break the law, to infringe anyone’s rights, or to import material you do not have the right to use. Do not attempt to disrupt or reverse engineer it.
8. Intellectual property
The App, its design and its code belong to us. The study material you create or import remains yours. We claim no ownership of it, and we do not hold a copy of it.
9. Third-party services
Any AI assistant you choose to use to generate material is a separate service with its own terms, and is not operated by us. Zynlo does not send your material to it; you do, in that assistant’s own app, and you bring the result back yourself.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error free, or that any study material will be accurate or suitable for your purpose.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data, or for the outcome of any examination, assessment or decision taken in reliance on material studied in the App.
Because your material is stored only on your device, keeping a backup is your responsibility. The App can export one for you to save.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the App, or from material you import in breach of these Terms.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction.
